- fun faith fact! Katherine was raised in a Mormon family.
Raised in a Mormon family in Connecticut, Katherine Heigl has been acting since she was a child. She hit the big time playing Dr. Izzie Stevens on the hit ABC drama "Grey’s Anatomy," for which she won an Emmy, and soon landed roles in successful movies like "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses." Heigl’s family became Mormons after her brother died in a car accident. For Katherine it was the hope and love in Mormonism that has kept her interested in the religion, if not frequently practicing. She doesn't currently have a church home, but maintains a constant prayer life as a part of her busy schedule.
